Dimensions  The vertical post of the Handy Post measures 4" x 4" x 54". The horizontal arm measures 5" x 5" x 24" and can be secured at any height below 54".

Best uses  The Handy Post excels as a mailbox post or as a signpost. And if you want to hang a sign on your Handy Post mailbox post, that can be done, too. 

Mailbox post  There is 18" of length and 5" of width on the Handy Post arm on which to mount a mailbox. Small and medium-sized mailboxes look best on a Handy Post. If you prefer, you can leave the internal cap out of the horizontal arm and use the arm as a newspaper receptacle, beneath your mailbox. 

Signpost  If you choose to hang a sign on your Handy Post, you can hang it from the arm at any height under 54". The arm will accommodate signs up to 18" wide. A Handy Post is also an excellent place to secure a planter or a bird feeder in your yard.   

Finial  All Handy Posts come with a 4" internal cap at the top of the post. You can easily replace that cap with a finial of your choice. You may find a variety of 4" finial caps at home improvement stores. We sell a traditional, white vinyl, Gothic Cap finial.    

Installation  If your current mailbox or signpost is secured to a wooden 4x4 post, you can either modify your post or use it as-is to install the Handy Post over it. For the details of how this is done, see the Handy Post installation instructions (PDF).
